The 30-year-old superstar had been dating Hassan Jameel, a Saudi businessman worth an estimated $1.5 billion. Nevertheless, sources close their relationship recently dissolved. While the parties involved did not immediately comment, some sources close to Rihanna did.

One unidentified acquaintance told MTO that the breakup was Rihanna's idea. She called the relationship "good," but said the singer has a history of dumping guys.

"Of course Rihanna broke his heart," the source said. "That's what she does -- break men's hearts."

The same insider indicated that Jameel likely had little to do with the equation. 

"Rihanna just got tired of him," the source said. "She gets tired of men sometimes."

We've already established that he's rich. But where did Hassan Jameel get his money? His family owns a successful company that has a hold on auto sales in Saudi Arabia and beyond.

Abdul Latif Jameel has an exclusive contract to distribute Toyotas in 8 nations, including Saudi Arabia. After amassing a fortune, his family turned to investing in soccer teams. The Jameel League currently contains 14 Saudi professional teams.

Personally, Hassan Jameel heads up a charitable organization operated by the family. His relatives established Community Jameel in 2003 with a goal to fight poverty and provide education. 

When Rihanna and Jameel were first linked romantically, the couple began to fuel rumors. The Saudi billionaire had previously dated model Naomi Campbell. Whispers of a strained friendship between Rihanna and Campbell soon grew. That played out with a touch of social media drama last year.

The two women had been mutual followers on Instagram. Shortly after Rihanna and Jameel were spotted together, though, that changed. Rihanna and Campbell caused speculation by unfollowing each other. While Jameel was never directly cited as the cause of their distancing, it has been common tabloid fodder.

Like many celebrities, speculation is already swirling about the superstar's next romantic interest. Some suggest she might attempt to rekindle her relationship with rapper Drake. Other reports indicate that might be less likely in light of an embarrassing episode in 2016. Accepting a Video Music Award from her ex, she said Drake's fawning speech was too much.

"Waiting through that speech was probably the most uncomfortable part," she later said. "I don't like too many compliments. I don't like to be put on blast."
