About Roberto Cavalli
Roberto Cavalli is a world-renowned Italian fashion designer who has become famous thanks to his exotic prints and sand-blasted jeans look. He is also the founder of the luxury Italian fashion house that bears his name, a house that sells luxury clothing, perfume and elegant accessories. Most fashionistas and fashion enthusiasts have been long-time fans of this Italian brand simply because it brings a fresh and colorful perspective on high-end couture.
In the early 1970s, Cavalli invented and patented a printing procedure on leather, and went on to create patchworks on different materials. When these techniques made their debut in Paris, luxury designers immediately crowded Cavalli with commissions, including Hermès and Pierre Cardin. He was only 32 years old when he presented his first namesake collection at the Salon for Prêt-à-Porter in Paris.
An instant success, the line made it to the catwalks of the Sala Bianca of Palazzo Pitti in Florence. Later on, it also appeared on those of Milano Collezioni, highlighting the jeans made of printed denim, brocade, intarsia leathers, and ultra-spectacular prints. In 1972, Cavalli was already opening his first boutique in Saint-Tropez.
Cavalli Brand & Accomplishments
In 1994, Cavalli presented the first sand-blasted jeans in Milan. By December of the same year, the brand saw a surprising growth, having opened boutiques in Saint Barth, in the French Caribbean, followed by others in Saint-Tropez and Venice. The main Cavalli line is sold in over fifty countries worldwide, but that’s not all. Roberto Cavalli designs RC Menswear, as well as the youth-aimed line Just Cavalli. Launched in 1998, the collections comprise today men’s wear, women’s wear, eyewear accessories, perfumes, watches, jewelry, underwear, and beachwear.
The Angels & Devils Children Collection is also noteworthy, along with the Class line. In 2002, Cavalli opened his first café-store in Florence, designing it with his signature animal prints. The opening of the Just Cavalli café in Milan, at Torre Branca, shortly followed this event. Another boutique opened its doors for customer on Via della Spiga.
Starting with January 2014, Cavalli returned to the title of Men’s Creative Director, taking his role back from his son, Daniele Cavalli. The 2014 fall collection was the first he released after his return, working hand in hand with Martyn Bal. A lot of changes took place at the same time. On 24 January 2014, Gianluca Brozzetti (CEO) and Carlo Di Biagio (COO) – two of the most important people running Cavalli, announced they were leaving the fashion brand.
Today, the line has a wide fan base across the world, fashion enthusiasts who are deeply devoted to its provocative designs and exquisite animal prints. In addition to its sexy apparel, the collection also includes dramatic sunglasses and romantic perfumes. In other words, Cavalli is not going anywhere for the foreseeable future. If anything, the brand is stronger than ever, in spite of the many changes it has suffered.
If you love to combine audacity and innovation when it comes to your style, the Roberto Cavalli eyewear collection should fit you like the proverbial glove. Aristocratic forms, precious materials, animal prints and snake themes are just some of the elements that has set Roberto Cavalli eyewear’s apart from the crowd.
