Speculation is growing that the Jaguar sports car lineup is about to grow.
The F Type has been a huge redeeming model for an otherwise struggling auto brand. The company that makes Jaguar and Land Rover has focused much of its attention on diesel. Unfortunately for them, it has not been the best time to invest in old fashioned fuel. However, one area in which the Jaguar nameplate has and continues to shine is with its sporty cars. The F Type embodies that spirit now. But fans think it might be just the beginning and that the Jaguar XK could be coming down the pike.

Keep in mind, this is all automotive speculation. Yet even if it is a bit more than Jaguar fan fiction, there are a few signs pointing to the release of another, even more luxurious and sporty auto.
Jaguar Land Rover’s head of product strategy added to the mystery during recent statements. He said the company is “working on a proposal for a whole family of sports cars.”
Hanno Kirner offered few additional details. He did, however, point to the current shining star of the current lineup. “The F Type has been a huge success,” he said.
There might be more to the story
Kirner doubled down on his celebration of the F Type. He suspiciously left open the possibility that it could be joined by another sports car.
“We love sports cars,” he said. “And I use the plural quite deliberately. Whether that is delivered by a body variant or something else remains to be seen. But for now let’s just say that the body type is very important for us.”
What the Jaguar XK might look like
Company insiders have hinted at a desire to see the F Type reconfigured. Specifically, the prevailing wish is to offer it as a 2 + 2 sports car. It remains to be seen whether this dream comes to reality. But if a new Jaguar XK with these specs shows up in coming years, get ready. You’re likely to hear “told ya so” from some of the automotive pundits in your life.
The question remains: When will a new Jaguar XK be on sale?
Again, all of this is based on some educated guesses within the auto community. But the current F Type is due for a refresh for the 2019 model year. If that timeline holds up, we could see the XK version a couple of years later.
