Blink and you missed the whirlwind romance that insiders say led to pop star Ariana Grande's engagement.
It was just about a month ago that tabloids first began reporting the unexpected pairing. Ariana Grande was romantically linked to "Saturday Night Live" funnyman Pete Davidson. This week, the speculation has increased considerably. Multiple sources are citing people close to the happy couple who say they are now engaged to be married.
A big announcement at the home of a fellow celebrity
Ariana Grande and Davidson were reportedly at a house party "Twilight" star Robert Pattinson was hosting. Insiders say they began telling people they were engaged at the party over the weekend. Clues about their budding romance have been clear in recent weeks, though.
It was Davidson who showed off a pair of tattoos he got to honor his then girlfriend Ariana Grande. And he apparently bought her a nice piece of jewelry she has been seen sporting recently. It might be their Instagram flirtations, however, that got the rumors going more than anything else.
A short but meaningful courtship
Sources close to the couple tell reporters that they have both found what they were looking for in each other.
"It's a recent engagement," one individual said. "They're just two people who found love quickly and make each other happy all the time. They both started talking about it this past weekend. It's nothing they've been hiding."
One person in the audience during a recent comedy performance said Davidson spoke about the relationship.
"It's pretty dope, huh?" he said, according to the source. The comedian then remarked that he "couldn't believe he was so lucky" to be dating Ariana Grande.
"He said he's going to 'ride this one out,'" the source said. "After that he kind of got into more of a comedy act. But it was pretty sweet because that was the most genuine and happy he seemed during the whole thing."
What brings them together?
The two met when Ariana Grande was a guest on "Saturday Night Live" in 2016. It is unclear when sparks began to fly. But they reportedly began to date sometime after both became single. From there, it was apparently an instant mutual attraction.
"Everyone thinks they're really cute together," a source said. "People don't realize what a great sense of humor she has. It makes them a good match. They're having a good time."
Ariana Grande is set to release a new album this summer. So it is unlikely we'll hear their wedding bells in the immediate future. But insiders say the course to the altar has already been set. Read more about Ariana Grande's relationships here.
