Ever wanted to own a vacation home at Martha’s Vineyard? Well, now you can – if you have $65 million, that is. Caroline Kennedy, the daughter of Jacqueline (Jackie) Kennedy Onassis, just put Jackie’s summer home there up for sale for a whopping $65 million, after buying it for just $1 million in 1979. Both of the Kennedy ladies have made a number of improvements since buying the property in Aquinnah, Massachusetts.
Known as the Red Gate Farm, the estate boasts a whopping 340 acres. On those hundreds of acres resides the main house, guest house, hunting cabin, tennis courts, pool, and an amazingly 1 mile of private beach, among other amenities. Also included are two garages, boathouse, and a storage building. A blueberry patch, vegetable garden, and exercise studio are also located on the premises.
The main house and guest house were designed by Hugh Newell Jacobson in 1981, while the dean of the Yale School of Architecture, Deborah Berke, renovated and expanded the main home in 2000 under Caroline’s direction. The main house now boats over 6,456 square feet of living space, five bedrooms, and five bathrooms.
According to Business Insider, Martha’s Vineyard has hosted some notable vacationers over the years. Included on that list are Amy Schumer and Former Presidents Clinton and Barack Obama and their families.
