The Rarest Cars In The World

If you're in need of some inspiration to kick off your search for the rarest cars in the world, we've got you covered. These are some of the most unique vehicles cruising the roads:

1. Dodge Coronet Convertible - $250,000

The Dodge Coronet is a car marketed by Dodge from the 1950’s. Initially, it was the division’s highest trim but, five years later, was the lowest trim line. One year after the car was developed, it received a face-lift which featured three heavy horizontal bars.

The upper and lower bars formed a stylish shape with a thick centre bar and parking lights. In 1951, the Dodge Coronet received another face-lift, but the car looked fairly similar. The grille of the 1951-52 model was a similar shape to the previous model, with the elimination of the bar.

There were only two cars produced in 1967, followed by another two in 1970, making it one of the rarest cars in the world. It’s virtually impossible to mistake this ‘70s car for anything else, because it looks and drives that different to anything else.

2. Packard Panther - $360,000

The Packard Panther was built in 1954 with the intention of being a show car. It was considered a two-seat personal luxury convertible. There were only a total of four Packard Panthers built, and only two of these cars have survived to the current day.

Originally, the cars had clipper taillights, but these were removed and replaced with a ‘cathedral’ style unit. Of the four Packard cars built, Michelle-Bentley owned one, which had a removable hardtop to resemble a 1955 Thunderbird car. In 1988, she sold it to the Bortz Collection. In 2006, it was sold to an unknown buyer for over $360,000. It still remains in excellent condition and has since been repainted in several different colour schemes over the years.

3. 1969 ZL1 Camaro – $1 million

The ZL1 Camaro is at the top of the list of the rarest cars in the world. However, it was once an unwanted car when it was first built. The car headed to the Mecum auction in Kissimmee in 2016, where it is estimated to have flocked for over $1,000,000.

It was conceived as a lightweight racing engine for a road racing series, but nobody expected it to become one of the rarest cars in the world. Many of the car’s feature included a known ownership history, COPO Connection, 14-inch rally wheels, 4-speed manual transmission, garnet red interior, and more.

Chevrolet built a total of 69 Camaros equipped with the COPO 9560 engine option. The creators took inspiration from a big block racing engine and it was further developed with a heavy-duty cooling system, rare spend and special cowl induction hood.

4. Tucker ’48 - $1.2 million

Tucker ’48 remains a truly intriguing story in American car history. There were only ever 51 examples of the Tucker 48 produced, and they were rife with innovations. Each of the rare vehicles show a timeless style, with a unique rear-mounted aircraft engine. The engine could be removed with only six bolts for easy removal for maintenance and repairs. Each car featured a centre headlight that turned with the steering wheel for a sleek appearance and optimal driving experience.

The reason why it’s one of the rarest cars in the world is because the business folded on March 3, 1949 due to a stock fraud scandal. This attracted negative media covered, and although Preston Tucker was acquitted in court, his company never recovered. The car was featured in the 1988 movie, ‘Tucker: The Man and His Dream’ and the car is currently valued at $1.2 million.

5. 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California SWB Spider - $17.2 million

You might have seen this Ferrari 250 GT California in the 1980’s hit movie, ‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’. There were only 55 of these ever made, making it one of the rarest cars in the world. It was built from 1953 to 1964, before being replaced by the 275 and 330 models.

The first of the cars were completed in late 1957, and the last built in 1963. It’s unlikely to see many of them exactly alike, because they’re all unique in their own right. However, there were also two similar variants. The first being the long wheelbase which measured 2600 mm between the wheels. The sportier version was dubbed with a shorter 200mm wheelbase. The open headlight model is elegant and stunning to look at. It is one of the most desired cars in the world.

6. 2009 Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita - $4.8 million

The 2009 Koenigsegg is one of the only two Koenigseggs made with a Diamond Weave exterior finish and the only example in the United States. For the estimated value of $4.8 million, you get a 4.8-litre, twin-supercharged V08. This also pushes 1,018 horsepower to rocket the car to over 250 mph with very little effort.

The car includes a paddle-shift transmission engineered specifically for this car, and as a result, it makes one of the best and rarest cars in the world. The 2010 model only has 1,947 miles on it and could fetch more than the $4.8 million – especially considering the previous owner had a high-profile. The car is so adored by everyone that even boxer Floyd Mayweather had to have one.

7. 1948-1950 Aston Martin Sports DB1 – $120,000

You may recognise this Aston Martin from James Bond movies such as ‘Goldfinger’ and ‘Thunderball’, but it is also one of the rarest cars in the world. It was the first car of the DB services and named after Sir David Brown, the owner of a manufacturer company who purchased Aston Martin in 1947.

This particular car is infamous for its 2-litre sports engine and a prototype was first developed in 1939. The car was only manufactured for two years from 1948 to 1950 and there was only 15 made in total. With so few around, even one in poor condition was just over $120,000. Imagine how much a well-kept one would bring!
