The American stand-up comedian, actor, and director hasn’t keep his car love a secret, and he’s notorious for his valuable assets. Let’s take a look at the Jerry Seinfeld car collection which is housed in a $1.4 million garage in Manhattan and sure to impress auto enthusiasts of all types.

Seinfeld is an American actor and comedian who is best known for starring in the hit television sitcom Seinfeld. Born on April 29, 1954, in Brooklyn, New York, he made his first stand-up debit in 1976 at an open mic. Four years later, he appeared on The Tonight Show.

During his childhood years, he sparked an interest in comedy influenced by his father, but remained a closet comedian. At the young age of eight, he underwent comic training. He also watched television every night and day to learn techniques and get inspiration from other comedians.

In his early days before his success, he took odd jobs to pay the rent. These included coming up with scripts to sell the most light bulbs. His talents helped the company to sell two to three cases. He later found himself waiting tables to earn money for rent, but soon quit after landing a job at the Comic Strip. Now, a multi-millionaire, Seinfeld has also become well-known for his car obsession and has built up a collection of millions of dollars of vehicles.

1. Seinfeld co-wrote and co-produced the animated film Bee Movie in 2007 in which he voiced the protagonist.

2. He directed Colin Quinn on Broadway at the Helen Hayes Theatre which ran until January 2011.

3. He developed a passion for stand-up comedy after brief projects in college productions.

7. While attending Queens College, he appeared at various open mic nights at the Budd Friedman’s Improvisation Club.

8. He spent time volunteering in Israel’s Kibbutz Sa’ar at the young age of 16.

9. He has written the scripts for 15 advertisements, and has appeared in a series of commercials based in New South Wales, Australia.

10. During his web series Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, he faced severe criticism due to a lack of non-white and women comedians. He responded with “who cares? If you’re funny, I’m interested. If you’re not funny, I’m not”.

Throughout his career, he’s built up an immense car collection. You may already know that he is an avid car collection, with a particular passion for Porsches, and he owns a secret Manhattan garage to store his substantial collection. We’ve narrowed down his collection to our favourite few, but wanted to refer to a few of his amazing models.

The 1958 Porsche 597 Jagdwagen was a German military vehicle, and you can recognise this on seeing it. It’s thought that Seinfeld’s model was the most completely original of the remaining few in the world. It was valued at $350,000 to $425,000.

As with many of the rare cars that he owned, there have been many replicas. Of course, Seinfeld would only purchase the original, legitimate models. The 1959 Porsche 718 RSK which was valued at $4 million was one of 34 ever built. Seinfeld bought it from the famous car racing driver Roger Penske. It also made a brief appearance in one of Seinfeld’s show.

The Jerry Seinfeld car collection got even bigger when he added a 1955 Porsche 550 Spyder to the family. The rare 550 Spyder ranked as one of the most desirable sports cars ever built. This particular model gained its credit and fame after James Dean died in one. James’s love for speed and racing was well noted in his documentaries. After tragically losing his life in his, it’s forever linked to the legendary actor.

The 550 is a classic and iconic Porsche which came from inspiration of the Porsche 356, minus the hard roof, of course. This car was created as a race car to compete in the roadster class, and that’s exactly what the vehicle did. It went on to claim 95 victories and 75 class wins over the course of 370 races. In total, only 90 were built, and of those, 43 weren’t built for racing.

The 550 model was a beautiful car from every angle. The two-seater is instantly recognisable as a Porsche due to its raised headlights. The skinny wheels and tyres made the 550 an antique car for life. When this model of the Jerry Seinfeld car collection went to auction in 2016, it brought $5,335,000 with fewer than 10,500 miles on the clock.

The Jerry Seinfeld car collection welcomed another Porsche with the 1957 356 A Speedster model. Back in 2011, Seinfeld restored his car, just a year after it reached the highest score ever given to this type in a Porsche show.

This model was influenced by the original Porsche 356 which was built from 1950 to 1955. It was the first production vehicle to have the Porsche badge. The 356 A model was built specifically with speed in mind and with a new chassis compared to its sister version. It became lighter and more agile to pick up speed quicker.

This summer car was ideal for Seinfeld’s car obsession. His favourite detail on the Porsche cars is the badge on the nose, which was left in original condition on this particular model. His model appears in an aqua blue metallic, which combined with the beehive tail lights make up his favourite features on the car. Details are important to him too, such as the shift pattern sticker on the windshield.  

When the car was originally priced, it was just below $3,000 before taxes and optional extras. Back in 1957, an owner fully restored his, which sold for $330,000. Seinfeld’s car sold at auction for $682,000.

The 2012 Porsche 997 became a new member of the Jerry Seinfeld car collection. Seinfeld was one of the five buyers to purchase this car made to commemorate Brumos Racing winning the Grand Am Championship in 2011. Seinfeld purchased his model directly from Brumos and drove the car for little more than an hour during a private track day near Los Angeles.

This isn’t just any GT3 Cup car, because it’s unique in many ways. It’s been specially styled by Brumos to accommodate speed whilst looking stylish. Over the course of 50 years, Brumos and Porsche have formed a professional partnership which is unlike any other racing teams and manufacturers in the United States.

This car had its interior stripped with a multi-point roll cage, additional competition suspension components, sequential gearbox, and aerodynamic improvements. This limited edition four-litre GT3 Cup blew Seinfeld away from when he first stepped into it. The steering and wheel sensors helped with cleaner downshifts when in race-driving move. The white with blue and red striped mirrored the 2011 championship-winning car, as well as giving it a sporty edge.

Since owning it, the Porsche frequently receives service and is accompanied by its factory operations manual to maintain a fantastic appearance and performance. Despite an estimated value between $300,000 and $500,000, the 2012 Porsche sold for $462,000.

Seinfeld showed off his Volkswagen Karmann Ghia in an episode of CCGC with Joel Hodgson. It comes with a four-cylinder Porsche 912 engine and fetches more than the average 1963 Volkswagen Karmann. This car breaks the norm from the Jerry Seinfeld car collection, but you can’t help but feast your eyes on it.

Produced from 1956 to 1974, it shares a resemblance to the Beetle’s vehicle. It’s air-cooled, four-cylinder boxer engine only reaches 1192 cc, but it’s light weight makes it a fun and cool drive on a smooth road. However, the Ghia wasn’t about speed, and rather functions as  a stylish run-around car. Its curvaceous rear fender and proportionate front and rear ends make it stunning to look at whilst it cruises past.

Its headlights were raised slightly in the 1961 model. For the 1932 model, the displacement was increased to 1300 cc and the horsepower rose to 50. The final model ended up being 1584 cc with 60 hp. When the car first came on the scene, there was a positive reaction. To keep production costs low, the car debuted with a $2,395 list price and it quickly become one of America’s most imported vehicles. Valued between $10,000 and $45,000 the Ghia is a dream amongst car enthusiasts.

The 1957 Fiat 5000 is valued between $13,000 and $40,000, and was produced from 1957 to 1975. When created by designer Dante Giacosa, it was one of the first city cars. Its simplicity made it so desirable, with blank doors and the same interior design as future Fiats.

Aside from Porsche, Seinfeld has a profound respect for Fiat. In an interview, he confessed that he loved anything Italian, “Fiat is an unassuming kind of company making unassuming cars”. This was the car Seinfeld was driving during a single-car accident. Luckily, he was unhurt, but the car reportedly rolled over after his brakes failed. After pulling his emergency brake in an attempt to slow down, the vehicle turned on its side. Miraculously, no injuries were reported.

The Fiat boasted a rear-mounted, vertical two-cylinder, air-cooled engine. Through originally marked as a post-war Italian city car to scoot around town, nearly four million examples were sold over the 18 years of production. Still to this day, it remains a true iconic European motor.

Its rounded, bubble-shaped body and circular headlights provided the perfect proportions from all angles of the car and remains admirable among many generations. Buyers were also immensely impressed with the amount of storage room for luggage and seat space for four adult passengers.

It wouldn’t be a Jerry Seinfeld car collection without another Porsche to add to his garage. The green 911S stands out in Seinfeld’s collection more than the other cars and is valued between $37,000 and $58,000.

In CCGC, we see a brief glimpse of this Porsche at the end on an episode. Even though it’s only a few seconds, it made a lasting impression among viewers. It’s easy to see why Seinfeld added the Porsche 911S to his collection for its fun factor and quirky colour.

The car was named after a specialist called Henri Joffroy, and this name stuck with the car throughout its entire production. The particular edition from the Jerry Seinfeld car collection participated in many Monte Carlo race competitions. The 1970 Porsche 911S is rare, and only 1,744 were produced in that year.

Its 180 hp made it a high-performance model in 1970. The second generation of the 911 series underwent some significant changes, including an increased wheelbase by 2.2 inches, wider wheels and tyres, and flared rear fender arches.
