Luxury Brands For all Sizes That are Flattering and Unique

Luxury brands for all sizes can be hard to find if you have no idea where to begin your search.

If you love fashion, but are challenged by limited sizes and options, you may feel hopeless. Worry not though! Entrepreneurs and celebrities are acting as ambassadors for women of all shapes and sizes to help them feel comfortable in their own skinFor every fashion advocate who loves fashion but despises shopping, we’ve found the best luxury brands for all sizes.

Fashion's Progression Through History

Clothing for plus sized, petite, tall and short women are vexed areas in fashion. Often, stores offer a limited range of luxury brands for all sizes, and even when they do, they can be unflattering. There are plenty of brands which have revolutionised the female body and given them their confidence back, and we can’t wait to share these brands with you.

Before these successful entrepreneurs hit the scene, fashion used to be very different. 1922 saw the introduction of ‘misses plus sizes’. It was essentially fashion which came in a larger size, but its title was later renamed to ‘plus size’. This term was loosely used to describe fashion, and not the women themselves.

It wasn’t until the 1940’s that sizing became more crucial in fashion, as women’s clothes were sized on their age. For example, if you were aged 16, you’d wear size 16 clothes. If you needed an alteration, it was assumed that there’d be one female in the household who could sew the clothes and adjust them accordingly.

In 1939, there was a huge fashion movement in the United States to offer more luxury brands for all sizes. Manufacturers predicted that it was costing them $10 million a year to not have set sizes. Thanks to improvements, women in the armed forces were mentioned to act as a guideline for the sizes of women in the United States. From this research, manufacturers took into consideration height (tall, regular, and short) and a plus or minus size when referring to girth.

Over the decade, government size guidelines were heeded less and less, and the sizes of clothes began getting marked lower and lower. But in 1983, the Department of Commerce withdrew its commercial women’s clothing size standard, and a private organisation began publishing new sizes in 1995.

The new organisation called itself ASTM International, and you could say that their stepping onto the scene shook the definitions of the ‘ideal woman’. In 1958, a size 8 corresponded to a waist of 23.5 inches, a hip girth of 32.5 inches and a bust of 31 inches. ASTM’s 2008 standards increased these regulations by around five inches in all three requirements. Ideals began to change too, and the world saw larger women modelling and walking the catwalk.

Designer Brands Becoming More Inclusive

There are so many luxury brands for all sizes which is an extremely positive step in catering to and embracing women all of appearances.

Asos Curve is one particular brand which sells an array of stunning garments for plus sized and curvy women. Their range is wide and it’s evident there’s been as much effort put into this section as their ‘regular’ one. As well as this evolution change, they also use curvy females to model the outfits. They’re not the only brand to do this, and we’ve seen more models on the catwalk of different heights, widths and shapes than ever before.

Statistics show that 50 percent of the female population are wearing a size 14 and the universal standard has dramatically changed from that in the 1930’s. But clothes designers aren’t just catering for plus size, but petite and short women too. Anna Scholz is a strong advocate for embracing people of all sizes and they offer something for the entire body spectrum.

Aimed at: Plus sized women looking an everyday wardrobe.

See Rose Go is a plus-sized brand which listens to women’s fashion issues, addresses them and creates attires to suit. Before the launch, founders Erin and Yi often listened to friends complaining that shopping for their body size was difficult. Choices were limited.

See Rose Go believe that all types of women are beautiful and that a size label doesn’t define you or your capabilities. Inspired by women they see and meet, their clothes claim to be made from high quality materials and help to shape body confidence.

They sell three categories of clothing which are regularly updated, but their overall objective is for everyday clothes. On their website, you’ll see high-waisted track suit pants, everyday leggings, tunic shirts, statement coats, and more.

Each of these items enhance a plus-sized woman’s body with expert tailoring and detail. This luxury brand doesn’t simply offer regular clothes in a bigger size. What makes them unique is their expert knowledge and desire to offer beautiful garments for everyday wear which aren’t flamboyant, but casual with a modern temperament.

Their statement coat is one of our favourites on their website. It’s made from brush-back vegan leather which has a buttery and substantial supple feel. Lustrously sheen with a relaxed feel, it enhances a woman’s silhouette. We also love the oversize patch-on pockets which gives it a bit of attitude.

Their website offers the latest fashion trends for all occasions and helps petite women to feel luxurious and beautiful in their own skin. They pride themselves on letting women be who they are, rather than pretending to be someone else.

Their clothes are incredibly versatile and you’ll find dresses, trousers, jackets, shirts, skirts, lingerie and everything in-between. The lengths of their garments are extremely flattering to fashion lovers who struggle to wear a dress which doesn’t drag on the floor.

Overall, there’s a sophisticated look to each and every item on their website and not a style that is replicated by any other luxury brand. Their unique quality is that they appreciate and understand that there’s not just one type of petite woman. You can expect to see clothes for bustier petite women or curvy on the lower body.

Aimed at: Tall women who love fashion.

Long Tall Sally is one of our favourite luxury brands for all sizes. Their ethos is to cater for tall women who love clothes-shopping but struggle to find items which fit and flatter them. From sizes 4 to 24, they open their doors to women of different sizes and shapes too.

You can expect to find jumpsuits, dresses, jackets, jeans, nightwear, shoes and even maternity garments on their online store. Everything they sell is dedicated to making tall women feel equal and beautiful. Since 1976, they’ve made it their goal to not just add inches to their clothes, but create styles and items which embrace a tall woman’s height.

From looking at their clothes, it’s apparent that they reach out to women who don’t just want to play fashion safe. As such, you’ll find brightly-patterned jumpsuits, lace-front cardigans, tweed skirts and more. They look is luxurious and extremely eye-catching, so it’s certainly for confident women who like to stand out.

What makes them unique is the risks they take with fashion. They’re appealing because they help make the average woman feel like she’s a celebrity just by her clothes. They experiment with textures and uncommon combinations which is playful.

Universal Standard began their venture to provide more options to plus sized women. The founders felt that the gap in the market for women sized 14-32 was dismal – especially regarding luxury brands for all sizes. So, they decided to do something about it.

The company is all about giving women options, when they look in their wardrobe. People shouldn’t be limited to a few go-to outfits, but should wear what they’re in the mood for. Consequently, you’ll find that Universal Standard is passionate about what they do, and that definitely shows in their patterns and designers.

Their pieces may look simple, but the beauty of their clothes is in the quality and engineering. Smart blazers, denim jackets, and dramatic blouses are just a handful of what they offer women of all sizes. They’re made to be playful, so you can customise your outfits with a skirt, trousers or dress when you feel like it.

They pride themselves on promoting a healthy body image, and if you have purchased something from them and your body changes, they’ll replace it with a new size for free.
