Mercedes-AMG Reveals Prototype of First All-Electric AMG GT
Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the prototype of its first bespoke electric vehicle, aimed at dominating the sporty four-door segment.
The model, expected to be named the next AMG GT, is positioned as a rival to the Porsche Taycan.
The prototype, recently driven through Las Vegas during the Formula 1 Grand Prix, offers a clear view of the production body.
Performance and Design
George Russell, Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 driver, tested the prototype, referring to the car as “one of the most insane cars” he has ever driven.
The vehicle features minimal camouflage, revealing its production-ready design.
It is powered by a three-motor configuration with all-wheel drive, delivering a combined output exceeding 1,341 horsepower in concept form.
Placeholder taillights remain on the rear, and some padding is still present under the hood and grille.
The prototype previously used a faux V8 engine to simulate gear shifts, offering a unique driving experience.
AMG.EA Platform
This electric fastback will be the first model built on Mercedes-AMG’s new AMG.EA platform.
The platform will also support a crossover variant, combining the same powertrain in a taller package.
Mercedes-AMG aims to attract crossover and SUV buyers who may otherwise choose models like the BMW iX3 M or Porsche Cayenne Electric.
The new platform allows AMG to expand its electric performance offerings while maintaining brand identity in the luxury segment.
The production version is expected to be officially revealed sometime in 2026.
