This wide range enables a lot of people to relate to his art. Have a look at our selection below and choose which paintings you would like to have in your collection.
Parvez started his artistic career in 1999 and his first art show took place in London, Ontario, Canada. The artist who was hosting it, Phil Rubinoff, is one of the first to blend photography with technology through computer software.
Taj, an enthusiastic photographer, thought he could explore the same technique as a side hobby. However, after four years of enjoying it as a favorite pastime, Taj turned to this innovative way of photography as a full-time career.
Technology + Photography
At first, Taj’s distinct technique involved just photography on canvas. However, he soon evolved to mixing and layering photographs with paints and printing them on diverse mediums. Aluminum and reclaimed white barn siding were among his favorite non-conventional substrates.
Since 1999, Parvez has created more than 1,000 works, while also working with video as an art medium. For the past 10 years, he produced 36 shorts, one documentary and is now experimenting with 3D video production technology.
In 2003, Taj founded his own boutique art company named Parvez Michel, Inc. in Beverly Hills, CA. Since then, the artist has pledged to create awesome designs for high-quality artwork – and ultimately make luxury art it affordable to all. Besides paintings, Taj has also produced acrylic boxes, furniture light fixtures, and artsy ping-pong tables.
Original Art on Innovative Mediums
Parvez’s art is meant to make you super proud to live with it, seeing that you have purchased something you relate to – more like an extension of your own unique design adventure. His career is dedicated to making striking yet accessibly priced contemporary art.
Parvez Taj’s modern creations are defined by richly layered compositions. They stand out due to a combination of original photographs, water-based paints, digital media, and UV-cured inks. By using a range of substrates, Taj’s body of work references nature, urban life, and pop culture.
UV Curable Inks in Art
Photographs are often inextricably linked to the media they’re printed on. Sure, you can digitally apply a filter on an image hoping to recreate the tone and shadings of pine wood, but the result does not compare to the real thing.
And this is, basically, what prompted the insatiable appeal of UV curable inkjet printing. Great printers can place an image on almost anything: aluminum, wood, rubber, latex, copper, linen, glass, canvas, rag paper, acrylic—any material that can fit under the print head.
For photographers like Parvez Taj, this media versatility is the reason why he became excited by UV technology. Overall, UV printing is a lot like any inkjet process – in that inks are put on a surface. However, instead of drying instantly, these inks (which lack the usual solvents found in inkjet inks) are cured with UV radiation from UV LEDs lamps.
To better grasp the technique, think of the dentist office where an analogous process uses UV light to solidify your cavity fillings. This curing can place the ink straight on the desired surface for the full effect. In some cases, materials must be pre-coated to help the inks adhere better.
