Each of these activities are proven to get you feeling festive in no time.

1. Ice Skating

New York at Christmas is magical because there’s a vibrant energy in the city which compares to nowhere else in the world. Embark in ice skating in an array of places for the ultimate festive experience. The Bank of America Winter Village in Bryant Park is a popular spot for ice-skaters. The Rink opens from October 28 and is free. However, you’ll need to fork out $20 to rent some skates. Visit during off-peak hours for more room on the ice.

Visit the Rink at The Rockefeller Center. It’s one of the most popular destinations for outdoor ice-skating. This beautiful scenery is limited to 150 people on the ice at one time. As it’s such a popular spot for tourists, we recommend visiting their website and booking a reservation beforehand. With the tree by your side, you’ll have beautiful views whilst absorbing the Christmas spirit. Wrap up warm and enjoy a hot chocolate before heading to the ice.

2. Christmas Markets

Amongst the best festive things to do in New York at Christmas, the festive markets are one of the most festive activities. Bryant Park’s Winter Village is centrally-located and easy to find. It’s also one of the prettiest and most festive of New York’s markets. With over 100 small stalls selling original items, there’s something for everyone. Pick up an authentic NYC gift for a loved one, and enjoy some local food to keep you warm on the cold, winter night.

Alternatively, the Union Square Holiday Market is a large market with an uplifted vibe. In total, 100 stalls fill the park with truly remarkable items for you to buy. Most items sold are New-York themed and make an excellent souvenir to take home. Try some fresh, hot apple cider and sweet treats to keep you going.
